Trusting God

In my journey with the Lord He is teaching me on Abiding as I shared in my last blog.

This time I would like to share with you what God is doing in my life now along with abiding. He is still teaching me in the area of Trusting Him.

I would like to share several times that helped me to see that I can trust Him.

One is when God was leading Don to surrender to the ministry. We had just bought our first home and were very involved in our church. God led us to move to Springfield, Mo, to attend Baptist Bible College. So, that’s what we did. We sold all we had and moved to Springfield. It was through this time that God taught me from Psalm 28:7: The Lord is my strength and shield. Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

There was also a time when God led us to leave the church in Sherman, Texas, and come here to Temple Baptist Church. That was a very difficult time and God said, “Trust Me.” 2 Corinthians 5:7: For we walk faith, not by sight. We have been here for 37 years, and yes, God has proven time and time again that I can trust Him. God has never forsaken me. He has always been my shield and strength. He has given me so many blessings and friends, and through one of my friends He introduced me to the Journey discipleship material that showed me how to know God in a way I have never known Him, become a self-feeder, and given me the opportunity to share with other ladies what God has taught me. No matter where God leads me, He has taught me that I should follow Him, win souls, and help others to grow in the Lord and know Him.

Now He is asking me to trust Him again, God is leading Don to retire from pastoring and enter another season of our life. He is saying to me, “Trust me. I have this.” And yes, He does have it. Just as every day God feeds me exactly what I need for that day, He has this word for me from Jesus Calling: “I am leading you step by step, through your life. HOLD MY hand in trusting dependence, letting Me guide you through this day. Your future looks uncertain and feels flimsy-even precarious. That is how it should be. Secret things belong to the Lord, and future things are secret things. When you try to figure out the future, you are grasping at things that are Mine. This, like all forms of worry, is an act of rebellion: doubting My promises to care for you.

“Whenever you find yourself worrying about the future, repent and return to Me. I will show the next step forward, and the one after that, and the one after that. Relax and enjoy the journey in My Presence, trusting me to open up the way before you as you go. I will instruct you in the way you should go: I will counsel you and watch over you.” Psalm 32.8

Maybe you are having trouble trusting God. If so, I hope and pray these scriptures will help you on your journey of trusting God as they have helped me to trust Him each moment of every day.
