CONTENTMENT

temp-post-image

We are continually learning. You never get too old to learn. God is still teaching today what He taught in the New Testament, and Paul tells us some of the things he learned that we can still learn today.

Life offers many opportunities for us to learn from God the things that we can’t learn any other way. Paul was a man who knew what it meant to suffer. He had all kinds of opportunities to learn from what life brought him. The thing I love about him is that he didn’t despair; he learned to be content where he was with whatever his lot was.

Philippians 4:11 (NLT)
"… for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have."

Contentment is something we learn from experience. It is not a gift given as much as it is a task learned. Paul learned this through living life. We all have opportunities to learn contentment as we live life and face all kinds of problems and pain. As with Paul, God may not heal us of what is ailing us. He may instead just give us the grace we need to endure. Much like Paul, we can most gladly endure and be content at the same time because of the power that will rest upon us from our Heavenly Father.
